Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) plays a critical role in supporting injured workers to return to work (RTW) safely and sustainably. This session provides healthcare providers with an overview of vocational rehabilitation services, including the scope of practice, key interventions, and how VRC’s support work readiness and work reintegration following injury or occupational illness.

Participants will gain insight into the VR process across the RTW continuum—from early intervention and goal setting through to sustainable RTW planning. The session will highlight how VR services is a collaborative process, involving workers, employers, and healthcare providers, to support workers in achieving early and safe return to work outcomes.


Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

•    Describe the role and scope of Vocational Rehabilitation services in supporting injured workers to return to work.

•    Identify key components of the vocational rehabilitation and RTW process, including assessment, planning, and workplace-based interventions.

•    Explain how healthcare providers and Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants (VRCs) collaborate to coordinate care, align goals, and reduce barriers to support safe, durable RTW outcomes for workers.
