Dr. Iris Torchalla is a clinical psychologist registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia. She is the director of the West Coast Resiliency Centre, an outpatient clinic which specializes in providing interdisciplinary treatment for individuals with posttraumatic stress injuries. She has received extensive training in various evidence-based trauma-focused psychotherapies involving exposure, cognitive and emotional processing, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and has participated in continuing education in acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, and motivational interviewing. Dr. Torchalla has published more than four dozen articles and book chapters on trauma, mental health and addiction, has presented her research at national and international conferences, has held workshops and lectures on trauma and substance use, and has trained clinicians in trauma-focused psychotherapy.
